1. DON’T PANIC about learning Swedish. You’ll get on absolutely fine without it whilst you are finding your feet and settling in. In my experience, I learnt more Swedish once I felt at home than I did in the initial few months after moving.   2. The basics & you! If you are an EU citizen head straight to Skatteverket and from here you can apply for a Personnumer and ID card which will open up access to healthcare, entitlements, bank and insurance needs, even your choice of foodmarket membership club! Below is a check list to go next and what to do.
  3. The basics & the kids! They need some sorting out too, eh? As with you the kids need Personnumers for them to access healthcare and education (primarily) but they’ll also need Personnumers to join in extra-curricular activities and holiday camps. Below is a check list for the kids.
  4. Get to know Stockholm, geographically. I know this sounds insane and you are probably thinking that it is the last thing you want to be doing. Nothing makes you feel more at home than knowing where you are going and in what direction.
