Valentine's Day
In Stockholm

A “no kids” guide to St Valentine’s day in Stockholm. Ok, that’s a bit harsh, you could bring the kids but you won’t want to.

1. Artipelag

One of our favourite destinations in Stockholm is Artipelag in Värmdo. In its stunning skärgård setting, Artipelag houses some of the most brilliant exhibitions. Currently running is Lars Wallin – Fashion Stories with the most spectacular couture. Did you know Artipelag was created by Björn and Lillemor Jakobson, founders of BabyBjörn – the world’s largest manufacturer of baby carriers? Their attention to detail when it comes to young children is brilliant making access and changing facilities a top priority. Their restaurant is fully kitted out with different types of high chairs and booster seats AND you can borrow a BabyBjörn carrier FOR FREE at the reception desk.

For information about exhibits and outdoor fun check out Artipelag’s website.

Siggesta Gård

Looking for somewhere a bit different to go for a Valentine’s lunch or dinner but still have the kids? Check out Siggesta Gård in Värmdo. The Hotel is cosy, romantic and is still kid-friendly. For best bets, book ahead and let them know that you are bringing a child (or two). Fridays are also “Family Fridays” at Siggesta Gård.

To see their menu and full details go to Siggesta Gård website.

3

Drottningholm Palace and Gardens

Take a cruise down the Mälaren and hop off at the impressive Drottningholm Palace. Indulge in the beautiful surroundings of Drottningholm gardens and take a stroll through the historic hallways. There are daily guided tours and pop-up exhibitions that take place throughout the year.

4

Centralbadet and Ecobaren

This beautiful example of Wilhelm Klemming’s style of architecture is a fabulous city getaway, even for a few hours. Centralbadet is located on Drottninggaten and feels like you could be 1,000 miles somewhere else. If you are lucky enough to have handed the kids over to someone else, book a table at the Ecobaren and experience their light therapy lunch!

For more details and information check out Centralbadet and Ecobaren’s website.

5

Yasuragi Japanese Spa

If you’re really looking to lux up Valentine’s day, why not book a day spa at Yasuragi, the Japanese baths and spa in Sjaltsjö-Boo. It’s one of the world’s most reknowned spas and no matter what time of year you go, the surroundings are stunning. It’s perched on the edge of the Stockholm skärgård and the outdoor hot pools and baths allow you to enjoy the scenery what ever the weather.
For more details about prices and packages check out the Yasuragi website.

6

The Winery Hotel

The Winery Hotel has only been open for 1 year but already it’s earning a name for itself as being a fantastic place for wine-lovers to steal away for a night. On the 14th February they are hosting a Wine and Food tasting from their Terreno winery in Tuscany. Mats Ruhne will be leading the tasting and it starts at 6pm. Other than that you can enjoy their rooftop hot tub, their luxurious hotel rooms and one or two bottles of great wine.

For more information and details, check out The Winery Hotel’s website.
