Viking and medieval fair 2018

Does what it says on the tin. A market/fair of Viking and medieval goods made by enthusiasts.

The market takes place between April 14-15
Opening hours for visitors:
Saturday 12-18
Sunday 11-16

Entertainment 2018:
  • Dragon fire
  • Historical dance
  • Medieval/Viking-inspired music
  • Göran Janulf: Historical music on historical instruments
  • Demonstration of medieval combat technicians

Activities on offer: Pony rides, try archery, fencing, crafts, historical food, candy, live music, jester, try medieval weapons, try to ride a raid for children and hammer throwing.

Hornstull Market

Stockholm’s most loved flea market. It has everything you would want for a day out, food, music, vintage, retro, new and recycled. Every Saturday and Sunday (excluding Midsommar) from April until Sept.

 

Spend the day in the sun hanging out on Hornstullstrand with the hipsters and soak up the Södermalm vibe.

Stockholm Junior Film Festival

During the spring of 2018 (16th April – 21st April) Stockholm International Film Festival will host its 19th film festival for children and youth. Since 2000 the festival has arranged film workshops, the short film competition “1 Minute Film”, and the Stockholm Film Festival Junior which screens films with free admission to everyone between ages six and nineteen.

 

The screenings are free of charge for all children, teenagers and teachers. Members of Stockholm International Film Festival are also able see the films free of charge. The tickets are available for booking on our website from February until the last day of the festival.

Music for kids

On the 18th April at 17:00 – learn how an orchestra works and find out more about the music to be played at the evening’s concert. During the introduction you may also meet a musician or try an instrument. Food and refreshments will be served, too.

 

The introduction is intended for young people between 10 and 13 years. In Swedish.

Körsbärsblommansdag

The annual celebration of Kungsträdgården cherry blossom trees culminates in an explosion of Japanese sub-cultures, too. The 21st April is hosted by the Japanska Föreningen in Stockholm that supports events, community and businesses in Stockholm.

 

The programme for the day hasn’t been released but as soon as it is, we’ll provide it!

Kulturnatten

Get the babysitters number to hand!

 

This is such a brilliant initiative, in collaboration with Stockholm Stad and Stockholm Kulturliv. Kulturnatten Stockholm (Culture Night Stockholm) is the night you discover what you did not know or what you always dreamed of trying. For one night only, cultural institutions, galleries, theaters, museums, studios, games halls, libraries and much more open between 18:00 and 24:00 and invite you to an unforgettable evening. Look out for their trademark purple signs. All with free entrance.

Barnens Kulturdag

A full day filled with performances, activities, exhibitions, playgrounds for the small, Turkish dishes and much more! You are welcome to Kungsträdgården on Sunday, April 22th, for the annual celebration of the Children’s Culture Festival, organized by the Turkish Youth League.

Spring Stockholm Design Market

Designmarknad Sthlm are back for their big spring market (Sat 28th and Sun 29th April) at Färgfabriken. The event takes place over a whole weekend with unique crafts and products from all over the world.

 

If you’re interested in hand made goods for the whole home, plus beautiful gifts, bath and body stuff, food and jewellery, these markets are exquisite. They also serve great food and drinks at the smithy!

 

Unfortunately, they have started to post a fee on entry – 50sek for adults and free for all kids, but try not to let that put you off.

Gröna Lund season premiere

The summer has officially started when Gröna Lund re-opens it’s doors. The 2018 season starts on the 28th April 2018 at 12:00.

 

In addition to the adrenaline pumping rides and thrill seeking games, you can enjoy live, outdoor concerts from the 2nd May – 28th Sept. Artist, including Macklemore, The Vamps, Marilyn Manson, Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Ziggy Marley, The GooGoo Dolls, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Billy Idol and Molly Sandén, all perform on the main stage. And, you can get access to all of these concerts for a one off payment of 270sek.

 

If you purchase Gröna Lund’s Grönkort you can get free access to the park (not the rides) and the summer concerts.
