Peter and Lotta are orphans living with Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender. They are about to experience Christmas for the very first time. On Christmas Eve, they forgo their beds, and ask to sleep under the Christmas tree. The night before Christmas turns out to be an enchanted night filled with magical, exciting events.

One of the greatest successes at the Royal Swedish Opera is the classical ballet The Nutcracker set to Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s renowned score. This popular version from 1995 is choreographed by Pär Isberg, with a story line placed in Elsa Beskow’s Swedish fairy tale world, Peter and Lotta’s Christmas.
