RFSU will, again host their annual Barnvagnsmarschen through the streets of Stockholm on May 11:

  •  Demanding that our government show international leadership by standing firm for women’s rights in international negotiations.
  •  In poor countries, maternity mortality is one of the most common causes of death among the ages of 15 to 19.
  •  Every year, 40 million women give birth without assistance from a present midwife or other healthcare provider. Afghanistan has (1) midwife per 10,000 inhabitants. In Ethiopia, only 10% of childbirths have a healthcare professionals present.
  • Access to sexual information, contraception, safe abortion and maternity care could prevent 9 out of 10 deaths.

 

Meet at Sergels Torg between 12:00 and 13:00 for a pre-warm up session speakers from Doctors without Borders, Doctors in the World, Kvinna till Kvinna and musical artist Marit Bergman. New for this year is a Barnloppis at the end of the march. Fill your baby wagon basket with old kid’s clothes and bring them to sell. All proceeds will go to RFSU’s work against death in birth.
