The vision of Artipelag’s founder, Björn Jakobson and his family was to bring art and nature together. Artipelag stands for Arts, Activities and Archipelago. His love of the Stockholm Archipelago, nature and the arts smash together in the stunning surroundings of Hålluden.
It only opened in 2012 and is already known as the premiere culture centre in Stockholm. The centre’s accessibility is outstanding and easy to get to by boat, bus or car. Family friendly doesn’t even come close to how warmly young kids and families are welcomed to this space. Afterall, it was Artipelag’s founder Björn Jakobson and his wife Lillemor that started BabyBjörn 56 years earlier. They’re child-friendly activities take place weekly and include family tours, ArtBox and the stone labyrinth.
Their outdoor art promenade, Detour, is glorious, adventurous and mysterious. You can go “off piste” or follow Artipelag’s app (available from the App store) to guide you. A fantastic “utflykt” for the whole family.
If getting there puts you off, don’t let it. There are a number of ways to get to Artipelag from Stockholm city centre. By boat, bus and car. There is even a FREE bus to get to Artipelag from outside of Central Station on Vasagatan.
