Parental Benefits in Sweden
2017 updated changes

Försäkringskassan has updated their online brochures and application forms to accommodate several immigrant languages. Making the social insurance system in Sweden a whole lot easier to understand.

Happily, Försäkringskassan has finally put together a set of brochures and information sheets in multiple languages. The website has been translated for some time now but the new work sheets are enormously helpful. Some of the application forms, which were previously all in Swedish, are now available in multiple languages, too.

Firstly, the page to locate these work sheets and online application forms can be found here.

Secondly, the most comprehensive and complete explanation of the parental benefits system in Sweden is now available on the Försäkringskassan website. It also includes an explanation of how the sick leave benefit works alongside the parental leave benefit. The brochure gives a clear explanation of the parental benefit afforded to parents of children born before and after 2016.
