"What's Next?"
The IPI Project

1 year ago, almost to the day, I decided I wanted to open a physical space for international parents and their kids. Yesterday, we came one step closer to that reality. But, we’ve still got a long way to go and we need everyone’s help to do it.

God, it’s been a long time since I wrote anything remotely interesting on the blog. I’ve written and deleted the start of this blog at least 7 times. It was self consumed crap. So, what do I want to say? I want to tell you about the IPI Project, or the International Parent Integration Project.

Yesterday (10th January 2018), we received notice from Skatteverket that our application to register the IPI Project had been accepted. The formation of the association opens up a whole world of support and development opportunities that will make a huge difference in terms of creating our vision. The mission of the association is to create a physical space, a physical “open door” for international families seeking the right information, support and services they need to successfully integrate.

It’s incredibly exciting and it’s about time that we, the Committee and I, share the vision with you. For now, we’re hoping to secure the funding that we need to ensure our pre-existing playgroup, Högalid Hedgehogs is maintained and developed. From there the plan is to find a new location for us to establish a brand new “playgroup” that would act as a conduit for pre-existing services and sign post to new services for international parents and families in Stockholm.

Our vision is to create a space that promotes integration and cultural immersion but allows families to create connections within their own community and network. Offering services like language training and job coaching, språkkafe and sign posting to health, welfare and education services in Stockholm, families and children can experience an integration that is far more balanced, maintainable and sustainable.

The structure of the association is comprised of a Committee and memberships. The Committee will take full responsibility for the annual management, administration and finances of the association. Committee members will be voted in annually from the the members. To become a Committee member, one must be a fully, paid up member of the association. Further details about association membership will be made available later in the month.

If you’d like to know more about the IPI Project drop us a line at ipitsweden@gmail.com.  We’re currently reworking the manifesto for public consumption and creating an accessible platform for those who wish to become members of the association, have voting rights and play an active role in the decision making process surrounding the development of the association.
